Restraining Orders
Dedicated advocacy for your safety and peace of mind — whether you need protection or have been unfairly accused.
Protection When You Need It Most
When you are afraid for your safety — or when a restraining order threatens to upend your life — the process moves fast and the stakes are high. Ashley R. Vasquez has extensive experience on both sides of protective order proceedings in Sacramento-area courts, and she treats every case with urgency and discretion.
Temporary orders can be granted the same day a request is filed, and the follow-up hearing typically arrives within weeks. Having an experienced attorney prepare your evidence and present your case can make the difference between an order that protects you — or one that doesn't hold.
Orders We Handle
Seeking Protection
If you are experiencing abuse, threats, stalking, or harassment, Ashley helps you act quickly: preparing a compelling declaration, assembling texts, photos, and witness statements, obtaining a temporary order, and presenting your case persuasively at the hearing. Protective orders can also address child custody, residence exclusion, firearms, and financial support — details that matter enormously and are easy to get wrong without counsel.
Accused Unfairly?
A restraining order can force you from your home, restrict contact with your children, end your firearms rights, and follow you in background checks. If you have been served, comply fully with the temporary order — then get representation immediately. Ashley cross-examines effectively, exposes inconsistencies, and ensures your side is genuinely heard before an order becomes long-term.

Restraining Order FAQs
The main types are Domestic Violence Restraining Orders (DVRO), Civil Harassment Restraining Orders, Elder or Dependent Adult Abuse Restraining Orders, and Workplace Violence Restraining Orders. Each has different requirements and protections.
A temporary (ex parte) restraining order can often be granted the same day you file, without the other party present. A hearing is then set — typically within about three weeks — to decide whether a longer-term order should issue.
Declarations describing specific incidents, text messages, emails, voicemails, photographs, medical records, police reports, and witness statements can all support your request. Ashley helps you assemble the strongest possible showing.
Violating a restraining order is a crime under Penal Code 273.6 and can result in arrest, fines, and jail time, and can seriously affect custody and immigration matters.
Take it seriously and follow every term immediately, even if you believe it is unfair. Then contact an attorney right away. A restraining order can affect your home, your children, your firearms rights, and your record — you have the right to contest it at the hearing.
